Forrest Lee Eberly, 80, of Cody went home to Jesus on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Forrest (Woody) was born July 15, 1943 in Mullen, to Forrest Fremont Eberly and Leona (Sieck) Eberly.

Thomas Heinert, 79

Thomas “Tom” Heinert, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Stewartville, MN of natural causes March 15, 2024. Thomas John Heinert was born in Valentine August 16,1944, to John and Flora (Kaiser) Heinert. He grew up on the family farm near Parmelee, SD and as a child, enjoyed riding his horse Scout, helping on the farm and socializing with friends from church.

Ayden D. Witte, 20

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Ayden Dwayne Witte, age 20 our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend passed away on March 15, 2024. Ayden was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 13, 2004 and lived most of his life in Mount Holly, NJ where he graduated Rancocas Valley Regional High School.

Betty L. Danielski of Valentine, passed away Sunday March 10, 2024, peacefully with family by her side.

Joan M. Kappers, 71

J o a n M. ( Daugherty) Kappers, age 71 of Clatonia, passed away March 6, 2024 at the Wilber Care Center, surround by family.

Audrey G. Kreycik, 93

Audrey Grace Kreycik, 93, passed away February 12, 2024. She was born August 6, 1930 to Harold and Eva (Carpenter) Barnes in Neligh. She was one of two daughters and four sons. When Audrey turned nine the Barnes family moved to Valentine where Harold was the manager of the Standard Service Station. Audrey attended public schools and graduated from Valentine High School in 1948. She excelled in drama, winning awards for humorous readings.

Sally VanWinkle, 88

Sally Jean VanWinkle was born December 30, 1935 in rural Todd County on the Lamoureaux Ranch to parents Calvin and Margaret (Meltendorf) Lamoureaux. She graduated from Todd County High School on May 13, 1954.

Forrest “Bud” Bonifield, 87

Forrest “Bud” Bonif ield,87, of Cody, passed away March 8, 2024 at the Rock County Hospital in Bassett, with his four daughters at his side. Bud was born January 31, 1937 in Hyannis, to Forrest D and Georgia (Swiggart) Bonifield. He joined two older sisters. Bud grew up on the ranch South of Whitman and graduated from Hyannis High School in Hyannis. He married Darlene Becker in June of 1957.To this union four daughters were born. Bud and Darlene managed the Bonifield family ranch until purchasing their own ranch in 1985 South of Nenzel. Bud was actively managing the ranch at the time of his death. In 2021 Bud was inducted into the Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame. He was an avid rancher, member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nenzel, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Harold D. Carrier, 84

Harold Dean Carrier, affectionately known as Hal, by friends, and Poppy or Pop Pop, by family, passed away peacefully February 23, 2024, at the age of 84. Born July 30, 1939 to Harley and Charlotte Carrier (nee Emmons) in Seneca, Hal was raised in Valentine, in the beautiful Sandhills of Nebraska. He graduated from Valentine High School and completed a teaching degree in physical education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years He met Katherine Ann Adams and the two were married in 1969.
