A second century of SD pheasant hunting begins on Sat., Oct. 19
The second century of pheasant hunting in South Dakota will kick off this Saturday, October 19. Considered the pheasant hunting capital of the world, South Dakota has abundant lands open to public hunting and wild pheasant numbers to beat everybody else, in spite of a 17% estimated drop in brood counts for 2019.
This game bird, native to China, was first successfully introduced to South Dakota in 1908, and has thrived in the state’s diverse landscape.
