Talk of possible boys basketball consolidation draws parents to school board meeting

The regular meeting of the Gregory School District Board of Education was held at 5:30, Monday, January 11, 2021, in the school library.

STEAM program generates lots of interest

In the “Gorilla Good News” portion of the meeting, Jennifer Voigt, Title I reading teacher, told about the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) program, also often called STEM. Mrs. Voigt works with School Librarian Holly Whitney in developing and running this program.

The library has a section devoted solely to materials related to STEAM topics, and activities are geared toward allowing students to explore different facets of STEAM. Donors Choose is a web program that allows schools to post information about specific needs in order to raise money. The first item that Whitney posted was new headphones for the students to use on the computers; she received enough to purchase 25 headphones.
