CCVMC is asking for Korean and Vietnam era veterans’ names for new memorials
The Cherry County Justice Center has several monuments gracing the front lawn. What’s missing are monuments to commemorate our veterans who fought in the Korean conflict from January 1, 1947 through February 27, 1961; along with our veterans who fought in the Vietnam conflict from February 28 , 1961 through May 7, 1975. In an effort to have these monuments created, a list of names needs to be created first. The Cherry CountyVeteransMemorial Committee is committed to obtaining the list of names and has forms, including one on the back page of this edition of the paper, at KVSH, Valentine Midland News and Printing, Valentine Senior Center, as well as the Veterans Service Office.
Chairman Don Nelsen said, “I am proud of the work our Cherry County Veterans Memorial Committee members have accomplished. We started our meetings August 18, 2016 and met every month on the second Friday at 8:00 a.m. at the Cherry County Veteran’s Service Office.” The committee includes the following: Chairman Don Nelsen, Secretary Bob Stetter, Treasurer Dr. Dick Jeffers, and members Jim Edwards, Larry Johnson, Bill Marshall, and John Ravenscroft.
