During the week of April 27 - May 3, 2025 the following arrest(s) were made: • On April 27 at approximately 12:55 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle was stopped in the 200 block of South Main Street, and the driver, a 23 year old South Dakota woman, was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, second offense, and Possession of Marijuana less than one ounce.

Niobrara River inspires young artists, VHS students embrace plein air painting

The scenic wonders of the Niobrara River recently became an outdoor studio for art students from Valentine High School. Embarking on a day trip, the students visited notable landmarks such as the Norden Chute, Rocky Ford, Smith Falls, and Fort Niobrara. Their mission for the day: to absorb the sights and translate their impressions into watercolor paintings created directly in nature – a practice known as plein air.

Old West Days Melodrama - did good conquer evil?
