Wow... where did winter go?

Lastweek,NOAAWeathercalled for severe winter weather including three to eight inches of snow, along with gusting winds up to 40 mph. We’ve needed moisture in the area the entire winter season and were grateful when we got about an inch at Miller Field, in Valentine, Thursday, February 19.

Hoebelheinrich credits much of his successtocommunity support and a simple piece of advice from his f i r s t friend when he moved to the area and Marty Jordan said, “If you keep making good products, people will come.” Building strong relationships with local businesses and programs across the county takes time ~ and the right ingredients. Jason Hoebelheinrich, founder and owner of Hoebe’s Smoke ‘N’ Meats, is doing just that by utilizing local products and, most recently, supporting the Valentine FFA Chapter’s Heart City Beef program.

Coming in second was Brittany Benzings’ ham and potato , followed by Matt Benzings’ be cool chicken noodle and LeeAnn Wagner’s sausage potato in fourth! City of Valentine Regular Council Meeting

A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Valentine, Nebraska was held February 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Library Meeting Room, the same notice of meeting was given according to law. Notice To Bidders

Framing and Drywall Package City Hall Interior Improvements Valentine, Nebraska Sealed bids will be received by the City of Valentine for the Framing and Drywall Package for the City Hall Interior Improvements Project, located at 323 N. Main Street, Valentine, Nebraska. Bids will be received at Valentine City Hall, 323 N. Main Street, Valentine, Nebraska, until March 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. local time, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. The work under this bid includes interior framing and rough carpentry as shown on the drawings and specified in Section 061000 – Rough Carpentry, gypsum board installation and finishing, rated wall and ceiling assemblies as detailed, related demolition required for framing and drywall installation, and coordination with other trades, all in accordance with the Drawings and Specifications dated August 30, 2024, prepared by Goodlife Architecture, LLC. Bids shall be submitted on a lump sum basis and must include all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and incidentals necessary to complete the framing and drywall scope of work. Bids shall be submitted in a sealed envelope plainly marked: “Bid – Framing and Drywall Package – City Hall Interior Improvements.” The Drawings and Specifications may be examined at Valentine City Hall or obtained electronically from the City Manager. Bidders are strongly encouraged to visit the project site prior to submitting a bid. Site visits may be scheduled by contacting City Hall during normal business hours. Each bidder shall be responsible for examining the site and becoming familiar with existing conditions affecting the work. Failure to visit the site shall not relieve the successful bidder from performing the work for the submitted bid price. The City reserves the right to waive informalities and to reject any or all bids.
