Troopers start Drive Sober Get Pulled Over campaign

DECEMBER 15, 2025 (LINCOLN, NEB.) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol launched an enforcement campaign during the holiday travel season. The campaign began on December 10 and will run until January 1.

During the week of December 7 - 12, the following arrest was reported by the Valentine Police Department: • On 12/11/25, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a 31 year old Nebraska woman was arrested in the 400 block of North Ray Street. She was charged with Disturbing the Peace and transported to the Cherry County Jail.

The holiday season is fast approaching with all its festive occupations like decorating the house, buying and wrapping presents and preparing and serving holiday meals. Between the additional time requirements, costs, travel and interactions with family members, this can be a particularly stressful time of year.

A weekend of music delights the season with more to come

We all have that one song that makes our heart quiver a little bit during this special time of the year. I’ll be home for Christmas has been a favorite for many generations - especially when travel is tough due to weather, financial considerations, or health concerns.

Community spirit Rejoices through the Sandhills

One Holy Night Silver Bells and Candy Canes The Valentine High School Music Department presented a Very Merry Christmas concert Tuesday night, filling the Commons with festive spirit, sweet harmonies, and plenty of holiday cheer. Community members were greeted with a free-will cookie and hot chocolate table, as well as a sock drive - both helping support the department’s costs for sending students to honor bands, choirs, and conference events throughout the year.

Debbie Galloway is Sand Painter of the Month

Debbie Galloway is a textile artist from Kilgore, NE, where she lives on their homestead ranch with her husband. From an early age she has enjoyed sewing. The “need” to create and work with her hands started at her mother’s elbow, where she watched her Mom sew for the family.
