Security First Bank to expand in Nebraska through acquisition from First Interstate Bank

October 16, 2025, RAPID CITY, SD and BILLINGS, MT— Security First Bank (“Security First”) and First Interstate BancSystem, Inc. (“First Interstate”) (Nasdaq: FIBK) have announced the signing of a purchase and assumption agreement pursuant to which Security First will acquire 11 Nebraska branches from First Interstate’s wholly-owned subsidiary, First Interstate Bank.

With the crop harvest ongoing and hunting seasons continuing to open, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission reminds hunters to be courteous. Hunters should expect to encounter farm vehicles and equipment on country roads and make room for them when they do so.

Young readers invited to write to favorite authors

Young readers in grades 4-12 are invited to write a personal letter to an author for the Nebraska Letters about Literature (LAL) contest, a state reading and writing promotion program. The letter can be to any author (living or dead) from any genre: fiction or nonfiction, contemporary or classic - explaining how that author’s work changed the student’s view of the world. Submissions must be completed online October 1 - December 31, 2025. Nebraska Letters About Literature is coordinated and sponsored by the Nebraska Center for the Book and the Nebraska Library Commission, with support from Lincoln City Libraries, Francie & Finch Bookshop, and Humanities Nebraska.

Duane and Janet Cady, and grandson Taylor Monroe flew from Grand Island to Austin, TX to spend several days with Taylor’s son and Duane and Janet’s great grandson, Beckett, his mom, Courtney Chasin, and her parents Linda and Alan Greagrey. They drove to Waco, TX on Monday sightseeing and attended Beckett’s karate class that evening. Happy anniversary to Duane and Janet, who celebrated their 54th anniversary on October 18!
