Martha Frew, 98

Martha Frew, 98 of Ainsworth, passed away January 26, 2021 at the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth. Martha was born on October 24, 1922 to George and Elizabeth Morlang, north of Norden where she was raised and lived most of her life. She spent the last six years of her life in Ainsworth. She was married to Darol Frew on April 17, 1949 in Ainsworth. Three Children were born to this marriage; Bill, Jerry and Rosalie.

Charity J. DeLawyer, 32

Charity Jean Miles DeLawyer was born February 1, 1989 during a snow storm at Cherry County Hospital in Valentine to her delighted parents Craig and Joy (McCrory) Miles. She was raised on the Miles family ranch near Brownlee. Here she learned to love the outdoors, ranch life and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. From an early age Charity had a strong faith and a strong will. That strong will would help her stand firm in her faith all her life even when it wasn’t popular.

Marjorie ‘Ilene’ Shelbourn, 81

Marjorie “Ilene” Shelbourn was born April 23, 1939 to Elmer and Margaret (Mayfield) Fernen in rural Todd County, SD. She grew up on a farm north of Valentine and attended school in Todd County, graduating from high school in 1956.

Robert G. Perrett, 94

Robert George Perrett was born March 31, 1927 in Hyannis to George and Ruth (Alsworth) Perrett. He was raised in the Hyannis area until he was 13, and then his family moved to a ranch south of Wood Lake. He told stories of the cattle drive from Hyannis to Wood Lake. They even had a chuck wagon on the drive.

Viola B. (Bessie) Mogle, 100

Viola Bessie (Bess) Mogle, age 100, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Cherry Hills Estates in Valentine. Bess, former resident of Gordon was born on December 6, 1920 at Brownlee to John (Jack) W.

Betty L. Bennett, 90

Betty L. Bennett passed away on April 13, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Betty L. Micheel was born to Carl A. and Ruth (Keller) Micheel on September 30, 1930 in Nebraska. She was the youngest of eight children. Her mother (Ruth) died when Betty was two years old, and she was raised by her loving father. She attended grade school in the Brownlee and Wood Lake area before the family moved to the ranch south of Martin on LaCreek, in 1941. She attended grade school and high school in Bennett County, graduating from high school in 1948. She spent most of her young life riding horses, (since age two as told by her father). She loved telling stories about checking cattle, windmills and salt for her dad. She took pride in being a cowgirl and helping her father.

Rodger W. Rhoades, 80

Rodger W. Rhoades, long time resident of Show Low, AZ, passed away March 17, 2021. He was born August 9, 1940 in Valentine to Ralph W. Rhoades and Ada Genevieve (Jennie) Hamar Rhoades. He was the oldest of four children. Rodger enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after receiving his High School diploma and remained for six years.

Joyce Ann Williams, 85

Joyce Ann Williams, 84, of Overland, KS, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2021. Joyce was born on April 21, 1936, the fifth child of Garner Webster Gaylord (1896-1968) and Lillie May (Blomquist) Gaylord (1895-1957).

Georgia E. Belville, 91

Georgia Ellen Pearson-Belville passed away at Pine View in Valentine, Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the age of 91. Georgia was born on November 14, 1929 in Wood Lake to George and Mable Pearson.
