Immanuel...with us in our messy
Points To Ponder Pam Keech Bryan

We were reminiscing yesterday about Christmases past. Many years ago, our church family met in a warehouse uptown in the inner city. At that time we had several homeless folks who would come occasionally. We decided to give them necessary items for Christmas, such as socks, mittens, long thermal wear and a bag of toiletries. Julia volunteered to meet with each person to get sizes and let them know what we were planning. We were excited to provide something for them that we were sure would be exactly what they wanted! The Sunday before Christmas we waited in excitement for those folks to receive our gifts. We waited, and waited, finally realizing they were a “no-show”! We were puzzled and disappointed. They didn’t come the next week either, nor the next. (We did search the streets for them and found some.)
