The Cowgirls hosted Colome Monday, January 16, 2023 and came away with a win 46-36. Saturday, January 21, the Cowgirls lost to Sandhills Valley with a score of 26-33.

Coach Shane Allison said, “The Badgers had a full week of wrestling. Tuesday the Badgers hosted O’Neill and Winner. Thursday the Badgers traveled to Chadron to make up the triangular that was cancelled in December. Friday was the Chadron Dual Tournament, and Saturday was the Chadron Invite.

The 79th annual Heart City Coronation Celebration will be held on Sunday February 5, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Valentine High School. The Badger Alumni is excited for another fun night of celebration. Our royalty will be crowned at the Heart City Masquerade Ball. Join our Royal Herald - James Woodraska, and St. Valentine - Grace Maunu, as they prepare for the evenings Masquerade Ball. Tickets are available at Janines, Sandhills State Bank, and Young’s Western Wear. There will be a Heart City Heart Award as well as Most for Valentine High School honored for all they do for the community and high school.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved grant awards for the Land and Water Conservation Fund Stateside Assistance Program and the Recreational Trails Program at its meeting January 20, 2023 in Lincoln.

Seven students from the VHS Music Department have been accepted into the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Music Festival. The festival consists of two bands and three choirs. Students had to audition for and be accepted into the festival bands and choirs.

KEARNEY – Students from 92 high schools in Nebraska will participate in the annual Honor Band and Choral Clinic hosted by the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance.

The Valentine Badgers traveled to Cody-Kilgore, Tuesday, January 10, 2023, where they took on the Cowboys and won with a score of 73-23. Andon Olson was the lead scorer with 24 followed by Lex Larsen and Anthony Gillette each with 9, Caden Stankoski and Nathan Perrett each had 8, Isaac Cronin had 7, Seth Vavra and Jack Lancaster each had 4.

The Cowboys hosted the Valentine Badgers Tuesday, January 10, 2023 and lost with a score of 73-23. Thursday, January 12, the Cowboys won over Hay Springs with a score of 46-44.
