Badgers earn second place at Valentine Invite

Thursday, May 12, 2022, ten teams competed at the 2022 Valentine Invitational, where Valentine earned second place with 374. First place went to O’Neill with 362; in third place, West Holt with 380; fourth place, Ainsworth with 403; fifth place, Hyannis, 429; sixth place, North Central, 534; seventh place, Gordon Rushville; eighth place, Thedford; ninth place, West Holt JV; and in 10th place, Valentine JV.

Valentine hosts invite

Friday, May 6, 2022, Valentine hosted their invitational. Individual results for the Valentine Girls results through 20th place are as follows: 100 Meter Dash - third place, Saylor Biltoft, 13.94; sixth place, Malika Monroe, 14.25; 13th place, Talia Wenig, 14.75; 14th place, Neeley Cronin, 15.40; 15th place, Joslyn Yarbrough, 15.55; 18th place, Courtney Billings, 16.47; 19th place, Chiara Enrico, 17.87.

Southwest Conference results

Tuesday, May 3, 2022, the Badgers traveled to Gothenburg where they competed in the Southwest Conference Championships. There were seven other teams competing including: Broken Bow, Cozad, Gothenburg, McCook, Minden, Ogallala, and Ainsworth.

VHS Sports Banquet results

The Valentine High School Sports Banquet was held at the Peppermill, Sunday, May 1, 2022. Becca McGinley, pictured at left, received the Senior Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year’ Gunnar Battershaw received the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year and is not pictured.

VHS qualifies 10 for the Norfolk Classic

The Badger track team qualified 10 participants for the 2022 Norfolk Classic. After getting to the track and warming up Kailee Kellum long jumped, Becca McGinley and Dylan Haase competed in pole vault. After their field events were complete the runners were getting ready just in time to have to clear the track due to lightning. After retreating to the vans for 25 minutes the officials decided to cancel the Classic. As bummed as the Badgers were at not able to compete; being a qualifier is a success.

Valentine takes first at Bassett Triangular

Thursday, April 28, the Badger Golf team participated in a ninehole triangular in Bassett where they competed against Ainswworth, and North Central. Valentine won with 172.

Badgers take ninth at O’Neill Invite

The Valentine Badgers Golf Team traveled to the O’Neill Invitational Thursday, April 21, 2022 and placed ninth out of 16 teams. Individually: Brayden Grubham shot 100; Logan Muirhead and Sean Springer each shot 101; and Ben Butcher shot 126 for a total score of 428..
