Farm Succession workshops to be held

The Nebraska Rural Response Hotline, together with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture Beginning Farm Tax Credit and Negotiations Programs, and the Farm and Ranch Project of Legal Aid of Nebraska, are sponsoring free 3-4 hour workshops for farm and ranch families. These workshops will cover basic estate and succession planning (tools, considerations and decisions); the use of business entities in farm and ranch succession; finance and management issues in succession planning; transfer, death, and other tax issues, including the portability election; and options, buys-sell agreements, leases and preemptive rights. The aim of the program is educational: to provide reliable information that may assist farm and ranch families in putting together business succession plans, or in reviewing their existing plans.

All things can become new!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 As a new year begins, people often wish to make a fresh or new start. They hope that old and unproductive habits leading to troubles in the past will fade away being replaced by attitudes and actions which will bring a new beginning leading to a happier life. Consequently, many people make New Year’s resolutions to effect such change and advance their good intentions. Unfortunately, most of those resolutions…most of the time soon fail, fade from memory, and are forgotten as old habits prove stronger than new-found desires.

Fischer statement on Colorado Supreme Court Ruling

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement in response to the Colorado Supreme Court’s recent ruling disqualifying President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot: “Regardless of your political persuasion, denying a candidate even the ability to stand for election is wrong. It’s the right of American voters to support who they wish, but this ruling takes away that right. This election interference is deeply unAmerican. I encourage the Supreme Court to weigh in quickly.”
