Marion “Mick” Hendrix, 69

Chief Marion “Mick” Hendrix passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was born January 9, 1955, to the late George Hendrix and Iola Mae Gramps in Oroville, CA. He was later fostered by Leslie and Thelma Turner, and moved to Cody, where he grew up.

Mick retired from the U.S. Navy as Chief Master at Arms. He worked as a civilian contractor for the U. S. Army and then for the Department of Energy as security for the Hackberry salt domes.

He was a master leatherworker and also enjoyed woodworking, whittling and genealogy. He enjoyed spending time outdoors watching the birds and studying the stars.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his beloved wife of 44 years, Muriel Johnson Hendrix; daughters, Heather Hendrix and Brandy Smith (Harvis); grandsons, Grayson and Zachary; granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace; sisters, Debby Galloway (August), Darcy Turner, Shirley Hendrix and Cynthia Simmons; brothers, Larry Gramps (Linda) and Danny Turner; brothers- in-law, Randy Schnabel and Larry Stout; foster-mother, Thelma (Turner) Graybeal; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; foster-father, Leslie; sisters, Linda Schnabel, Peggy Stout and Stacy Hendrix; brother, David Turner; and nephew, Reginald Schnabel.

Marion’s funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Burial followed in Kinder McRill Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
