When is it time to visit the dentist?

Perspectives Pain in your mouth is difficult to ignore, especially when it affects everyday activities like speaking, eating, or sleeping. Here are some of the most common reasons to visit your dentist.

There were about 70 in attendance for the annual Lakeview Church picnic on July 4. It was a little cool, but still a pleasant day with food and visiting. The church will be a busy place this week as Prairie Light Youth Camp is going on with lots of kids and helpers taking part.

Master Gardener: Princess of India Nasturtium, colorful and delicious

Herbs grown for their leaves, such as Princess of India Nasturtium, 2024 Special Garden Project, should be exhibited with their stems, five stems for 4-H, and three stems for open class in a container of water. Leaves should be fresh and tender, free from blemishes, bruises, and insect and disease damage. Many herbs are best when harvested before they flower. After the herbs have grown, the essential oils change, and the flavor or scent may not be as desirable.

Master Gardener: Know your flowers, know your pollinators

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Earth laughs in flowers.” Most of us want beauty around us that’s why we have plants in our homes and around our homes. We also want shrubs flowers trees for our birds, butterflies, and for our wildlife. The Nebraska Panhandle is “short grass prairie.” This swath extends from Texas up to Canada. This means we’re the type of prairie that might have one or two months of drought in the summers and our area can have tornadoes, hailstorms, and blizzards all in the same year. East of the Panhandle, there is more rain and, therefore, taller grass.
