October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Lincoln-Women have a one in eight chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). On average, 310,720 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the United States; approximately 1,770 of those are Nebraska women.

Jean Burge Dan and Sheri Tinant were in Hastings over the weekend for the wedding of their grandson, Turner Tinant to Mattison Hogrefe in an outdoor ceremony. Turner is the son of Deon and Michelle Tinant, and also grandson of Lyle and Sharon Larson.

NCDHD is offering vaccines while Avera temporarily pauses services

NCDHD is here to help with vaccinations while Avera St. Anthony’s clinics temporarily pause services. All NCDHD clinics are walk-in—no appointment needed! We offer clinic every Thursday in O’Neill from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at our office, 422 E. Douglas St. All vaccines are available for those two months and older, including flu and COVID-19 vaccines for everyone six months and older.

Increase of Pertussis, also called Whooping Cough, in Nebraska

Lincoln — In 2024, a total of 35 cases of Pertussis, also called Whopping Cough, have been reported in Nebraska compared to 13 reported in 2023. With a recently confirmed case of pertussis in a student residing in the Two Rivers Public Health Department region, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services emphasizes the importance of taking preventative measures to protect young individuals and communities from pertussis.
