I mentioned we needed some moisture, and we sure got it over the weekend. Rain started falling Saturday night, turning to snow on Sunday. Most reports as of Monday morning were about 10” of snow. After a few scoops, I knew this wasn’t the fun stuff to scoop! Thankfully, the temperatures remained mild, so that was a plus, and though it made a lot of work for everyone, it was beautiful.
Jeannie Schelhaas was in Fremont last week where she visited her daughter, Kim, and other family members in the area.
Scott Shelbourn, Kerry Hoffman and Kelly Stenka traveled to Neligh on Sunday to attend the funeral for their friend, Tim Storm on Monday. Tim worked at the NRD in Valentine, and passed away unexpectedly last week at age 52.
Sara and Ruth Tinant took a cake (baked by Ruth) to Joe Kary in Parmelee on Friday. On Thursday Sara attended the funeral for Molly Palmer in Ainsworth, and on Saturday Sara, joined by Becky Meester, attended the Ace Kary funeral in Norris.
Kitty VanderWey took daughter Sadie and her friend Tehya From to Rapid City Friday for an overnight trip to celebrate Sadie’s birthday. They enjoyed eating Chinese and Japanese foods, shopping, arcade and getting nails done! They celebrated a month early but made it back before the bad weather, and came home to cattle starting to calve.
Hats off to the dedicated employees who work hard, in nasty weather, to make sure their customers have electricity, as well as those who plow roads and get the world moving again. Unsung heroes I’d say! Have a good week!
