Early voting at county election offices begins

Early in-person voting for the primary election begins today, April 15, at Nebraska county election offices. “Our 93 county election offices are open and ready to help Nebraskans vote in the May Primary Election,” Secretary of State Bob Evnen said.

Fire departments keep it under control

There’s so many things to be grateful for - especially during a dry, windy March day. Four days this month, the Valentine Fire Department was on scene putting out fire. Valentine Fire Chief Terry Engles said, “Nothing severe, and that’s good. Hopefully the weather forecast is accurate.” He’s referring to the moisture that fell over the weekend to keep the dryness at bay, and to encourage things to green up.

The nagging cough

“I’ve got this cough that just won’t go away,” my patient says, and I know this story all too well. Chronic cough, a cough that lasts more than two months, is a common ailment which in most cases is benign. But for the patient it is both bothersome and worrisome.

Safe cars save lives: drivers should check their vehicle during Vehicle Safety Recalls Week

Kansas City, MO — The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) mission is simple: Keep people safe on America’s roadways. One way we can all be assured that our vehicles are as safe as possible is by raising awareness of Vehicle Safety Recalls Week, which is March 4-10, 2024. NHTSA Region 7, which includes Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska is taking this opportunity to remind drivers to check their vehicles for open safety recalls. In 2022 alone, there were 1,050 safety recalls affecting more than 31 million vehicles and other automotive equipment in the United States.

Lincoln- Celebrate Nebraska’s rich history, diverse cultures and tight-knit communities in Nebraska Public Media’s newest local documentary celebrating the state’s vibrant murals. “The Magic of Murals” premieres at 7:00 p.m.

“No man is an island, entire of itself, every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.” This is the beginning of a poem from 1624. In it the poet, John Donne, appreciates how humans are all connected. Indeed, humans are social beings, and social connection is a factor in our health.
