AAA Launches “Move Over for Me” Campaign to Protect All Drivers on the Roadside

OMAHA-AAA has long been an advocate for “Move Over” laws, requiring drivers to slow down and move over for emergency responders on the roadside, yet there continues to be an alarming number of fatalities. Nearly 350 people are struck and killed outside a disabled vehicle each year, and roughly a quarter of motorists don’t know that Slow Down, Move Over laws exist in their state. AAA Nebraska hopes to broaden the law and educational efforts with its new “Move Over for Me” campaign that asks drivers to move over for all motorists stuck on the roadside as well as first responders.

Lakeview has a new addition! Congratulations to Daniel and Amber Smith on the birth of their son, Daniel Arlen Smith III. He was born Friday, October 7, 2022 weighing 5.7 lbs and was 18.1 inches long. His grandparents are Dan and LaDwan Smith of Lakeview, Mike Hurlock from St. Leonard, MD and Beth Henning form Shepard, MT. He was seven weeks early, but ding great! as soon as he grows a little and some more weight gained, he’ll be home from Sioux Falls.

Gov. Ricketts proclaims October Financial Aid Awareness Month

Gov. Pete Ricketts has proclaimed October Financial Aid Awareness Month. The Governor signed and presented the proclamation to representatives from EducationQuest Foundation, the Nebraska Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NeASFAA) and the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE).

Ron Patton and son-in-law Brady Cope of McLaughlin, SD traveled to Colorado for a men’s retreat over the weekend. Cynthia Cope enjoyed Dean and Sheryl had grandkids, Montana, Harleigh and Dallas Veurink over the weekend, who were a big help harvesting several hundreds apples off their tree!
