February is National Parent Leadership Month

Lincoln – February is National Parent Leadership Month and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is recognizing parents that work to transform their families and communities in Nebraska. As DHHS’s mission is to help Nebraskans Live Better Lives, DHHS provides resources, programs, and training for parents to aid their families and positively impact their communities.

Vets Club announces winners in final week of annual soup contest

The final week of the Vets Club Soup Contest was held Friday, February 11. First place was Mason and Carson Hamilton with Creamy Tomato Tortellini, second place was Sherry Slagowski with Cheesy Cowboy Soup, third place was Leo Driving Hawk with 3 Bean and Ham and fourth place was Emma Hanson with Tac-O-Bout a Good Soup..

Duane and Janet Cady drove to Alliance on Saturday, January 23 for the 30th birthday party for AJ Maiser, who is the fiance’ of Duane and Janet’s granddaughter, Britni. Jodi Arnold took five of her choir students from Cody-Kilgore to North Platte on Saturday where they took part in the Singing Youth of Nebraska Honor Choir.

Cherry County 4-H Luck of the Draw to be held during Heart City Bull Bash

Nearly 250 4-H members and 75 volunteers are involved in Cherry County 4-H. The month of February is Nebraska 4-H Month, and Cherry County is celebrating by hosting the annual Luck of the Draw fund raiser to be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 ,at 10:00 a.m. at the NEW LOCATION, the north side of Heart City Drug on Main Street, Valentine. Local 4-H youth and leaders will join with the community to raise funds for the Cherry County 4-H program. These funds support 4-H programming supplies and clinicians, awards, scholarships, and exhibitor T-shirts.

First influenza deaths of season reported to DHHS

Lincoln-The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Two Rivers Public Health Department, Sarpy/Cass Health Department, and the Douglas County Health Department have reported the first influenzaassociated deaths this season. The four flu deaths include individuals over the age of 50:
