Annual bison round-up completed at Fort Niobrara NWR

After being checked over, a young bison leaves the chute and will head out to winter pasture.

Held in the palm of a small, leather gloved hand, is this tiny microchip that is injected into each of the young bison. The older bison’s microchips are tested during the round-up.
