City Council discusses City Hall facade

Goodlife Architecture drew up plans for City Hall including a new parking lot in the back of the building that will be used for citizens to enter the new Council meeting room. While the design is conceptual, and subject to change, the goal is to remove an old shed that is currently located in the parking area. The changes haven’t been approved by the City Council as of their December 9, 2021 meeting.

Discussion and suggestions were made to Goodlife Architecture on the City Hall design concepts to refine the courtyard to work well with the NDOT streetscape project. One suggestion on the north side of what was once the old fire hall, was to have the windows on the bottom portion to look like the ones on the top of the City Hall portion. Also discussed was the lettering over the City Government doorway to be centered with a heart possibly over the customer entrance to the south.

The Council preferred this look, which is less refined and would have pine trees to the south, a statute or sculpture and native vegetation.
