Art blooms on Main Street at the third annual Valentine Art Wal

Despite a chilly and gloomy Friday, May 23, 2025 the creative spirit shone brightly at the third annual Valentine Art Walk. Main Street was transformed into an open-air studio and gallery, buzzing with artistic energy and community engagement.

Susan Reenders McNaught is the June Sand Painter of the Month

SusanReendersMcNaughtgrew up in Michigan on an acreage with cattle, horses, chickens and various other animals. She began drawing her favorite subject – animals – at a young age. Her fondness for animals motivated her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. After graduating from veterinary college, she moved to Valentine, NE where she enjoyed practicing veterinary medicine for 22 years.

Memorial Day service canceled due to rain

While Memorial Day services were canceled Monday, May 26, 2025, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine, several folks didn’t get the word and showed up at the Vets Club. Singers of National Anthem and the Little Miss Poppy and Little Miss Poppy in waiting were in attendance.

UNK announces Dean’s List for 2025 spring semester

The University of Nebraska at Kearney announced students who earned a place on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 semester. Students who are on the Dean’s List must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale.

UNMC congratulates graduates

Diplomas and certificates were conferred on nearly 1,000 University of Nebraska Medical Center students during ceremonies held May 8, 2025 in Lincoln, Norfolk and Kearney and May 10 in Omaha and Scottsbluff.

The University of Nebraska- Lincoln held commencement exercises. The 3,591 graduates are from 57 countries, 46 U.S.

VMS Badger Effort Awards

Congratulations to the Valentine Middle School fourth quarter Badger Effort Award recipients! The Badger Effort Award is based on the school’s character education. Students who demonstrate Character In Action (CIA), responsibility, accountability, honesty, empathy, and respect were nominated by their classroom teachers and staff.

CSC announces students named to President and Dean’s List

Chadron State College has announced the names of students who qualified for the Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 semester. To be eligible, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours of coursework, be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, and have no incomplete grades.
