Dean and Sheryl Noteboom and Gary and Faye Noteboom attended the wedding of Gary’s granddaughter, Leah and Austin in Canton, SD on Saturday. Leah is the daughter of Lisa Noteboom.

The North Central RC&D has activities on the June calendar, and we want you to be informed! We will have a booth at the Sandhills Ranch Expo in Bassett on Wednesday, June 18, and Thursday, June 19. Our location will be in the new Rock County Community Center, so stop by, visit with us, and soak up some air conditioning while at the Expo!

During the week of June 1 - 7, 2025 the following arrests were reported by the Valentine Police Deparment: • On June 3 at approximately 1:25 a.m., a 42 year old South Dakota woman was arrested on the charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Possession of an Open Alcohol Container. • On June 5 at 3:18 p.m., officers responded to a trespassing complaint in the 900 block of West B Street in Valentine.

Nebraska Game and Parks reminds outdoors enthusiasts that dogs are not allowed on state wildlife management areas from May 1 through July 31, except in “authorized dog training areas.” The seasonal restriction aims to protect wildlife during breeding and nesting season. Authorized dog training areas are marked by signage; other than in these designated areas, it is unlawful to exercise, run, train or hunt with dogs on the property.

JUNE 3, 2025, LINCOLN — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) removed 80 impaired drivers from the road during the Make It Click campaign. During the campaign, which ran from May 12 through June 1, troopers arrested 80 drivers for driving under the influence.

JUNE 7, 2025 LINCOLN, NE — The Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles are warning about a scam that has targeted numerous Nebraskans. The scam involves a text message purportedly from the Nebraska DMV claiming that the recipient has unpaid traffic fines and that several penalties are possible unless the recipient clicks a link to pay the supposed fines.

JUNE 3, 2025 MCCOOK, NE — The Nebraska State Patrol is raising awareness about multiple overdose cases in southwest Nebraska. In the last several days, there have been two overdose cases in the area.

Saturday, May 31, 2025 was the inaugural Cherry County Royalty Dad Pageant. There were four contestants and they included Tim Holmes, BJ Robinson and Lee Sarritt.
