NSP arrests Crawford man in Child Exploitation Investigation

MAY 16, 2025 (CHADRON, NEB.) — Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Crawford man following an investigation into child exploitation. Investigators served an arrest warrant for Tyrell Homrighausen, 31, at his home in Crawford.

Pet Art on Display for the month of May

An art exhibition focusing on pets as subjects is currently being held at the Valentine Public Library. The show, which runs until May 30th, features a variety of mediums including watercolor, acrylic, oil, collage, fibers, and drawings.

VHS students launch Blankets for Babies

Valentine, NE – In a heartwarming effort to support newborns and their families, Valentine High School seniors Rylie Sexon and Kimber McGinley have launched the Blankets for Babies project, an initiative dedicated to creating and donating handmade blankets for infants.

Governor Pillen extends Burn

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen signed an executive order extending a burn ban due to continued dry conditions in the central and western regions of Nebraska. The new order remains in effect until midnight May 20.

Dixie Hasart is the Sand Painter of the Month

Dixie Hasart grew up in eastern Colorado and attended school in Burlington. It was there that she was fortunate to have a wonderful and talented middle and high school art teacher. “She introduced us to many different mediums. I took a semester in oil painting and liked it best. Several years later, I bought a $10 set of oils from Walmart and did a painting for my parents. That really started my love for oils,” she said, “When my children were school age, I took off 20 years to homeschool them. I started painting again in 2012.”

Monday, May 12, Traffic Control was placed to close Highway 83 North (West 4th Street) between the city streets of Cherry and Highway 83 to Edna and Highway 83. A detour for Highway 83 north traffic will be placed.
