Congratulations VHS Class of 2025

Good afternoon and welcome to the Valentine High School Class of 2025 graduation ceremony! When I thought about graduation as a kid, I always imagined it would feel like closing a chapter of my life and having to start completely anew. That everything I ever knew about myself and the world would suddenly change because of a diploma, cap, and gown.

Welcome to the Celebration of the Graduating Class of 2025! We are thrilled to gather here today to honor the achievements of this graduating class. We have learned, grown, and prepared for this significant moment. Our heartfelt gratitude is in respect to our parents, siblings, grandparents, teachers, and all the supporters who have guided and uplifted us throughout this journey.

Valentine Badgers place second!

The Valentine Invitational boys golf tournament, held May 15, 2025 was initially going to be 18 holes, however the tournament was changed to a 9 hole and started at 1:00 p.m. Coach Devin Muirhead said it was due to the course conditions after two inches of rain.

MONA unveils collaborative map project to unite Nebraska communities

The Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA)announcesthecompletion of the Nebraska Collaborative Map Project. This innovative initiative invited individuals and school districts from each of Nebraska’s 93 counties to contribute original artworks representing their unique communities, culminating in a comprehensive, statewide map that celebrates Nebraska’s rich cultural and geographical diversity.

Have fun with these camping season tips

Peak camping season is here, and with more than 76 state park locations across the state, Nebraska Game and Parks offers plenty of spots to park a recreational vehicle or pitch a tent. With the following preparation and planning, campers are guaranteed to have fun and avoid frustration.

How can we help with access to healthcare?

I decided that we would continue with where we left off last week, how can Open Plains Transit and public transportation services help communities? We started the discussion with Families and Youth-Aged Passenger Transportation and Employer/Employee Transportation, as summer is right around the corner.

Summer Meals begin May 27

Valentine Community Schools will once again be providing free lunches to children during the summer at the Valentine High School parking lot. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child under age 18 may come and get a free lunch.

Lakeview Area News

Congratulations to John Lloyd Fulton, who graduated Saturday from Valentine High School. John is the son of Lisa Fulton and the late Brian Fulton. He plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the fall for accounting/ag business.

During the week of May 11 - 17, 2025 the following arrests were made by the Valentine Police Department: • May 12, at 4:10 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of North Cherry Street. A 21 year old Nebraska man was arrested on the charge of Obstructing a Peace Officer.
