Nebraska brand committee opens executive director search

At its regularly scheduled public meeting in Valentine, NE on June 10, the Nebraska Brand Committee appointed Tom Hughson as its Interim Executive Director. The action became necessary as a result of the resignation of the Committee’s Executive Director, Don Arp, effective June 1, 2026.

Nebraska Brand Committee seeks applications for seven new member positions

LINCOLN, Neb. — The State of Nebraska is now accepting applications for seven positions on the newly restructured Nebraska Brand Committee, authorized by Legislative Bill 1187 (LB1187) and codified in Neb. Rev. Stat. § 54-191. LB1187 expands the committee to seven members and creates five geographic districts to ensure cattle industry representation from across the state, including non-inspection areas. All members are appointed by the Governor and subject to confirmation by the Legislature. Terms begin August 28, 2026.

Nebraska Brand Committee announces fee adjustments

Alliance, NE — The Nebraska Brand Committee (NBC) after their Quarterly Meeting June 10, announced updated fees effective August 1, 2026. Changes to include: • Brand renewals: $200 for four years • Physical inspections: $1.40 per head • A $30 travel surcharge per stop replaces mileage • Registered feedlots (RFLs) and Dairy Heifer Development operations: 25% of the per-head inspection charge Fee Changes Authorized Under LB1187 LB1187, introduced by Senators DeKay, Holdcroft, Ibach, Kauth, Meyer, and Storm, updates Nebraska statutes on brand registration, inspection, and feedlot and heifer development operations.
