Gov. Pillen approves permanent regulations for medical marijuana

LINCOLN, NE – Governor Jim Pillen approved permanent regulations for medical marijuana as drafted by the state Medical Cannabis Commission. His action comes one day after Attorney General Mike Hilgers affirmed that the regulations met statutory and constitutional authority.

Nebraska Workforce Retention and Attraction grant application now open

Lincoln, NE– Applications are now being accepted for the Nebraska Workforce Retention and Attraction Grant through the Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL). This new grant program, established under LB 1165, Section 28 of the Grow the Good Life Act, is designed to help protect large numbers of Nebraska-based jobs when a key employer undergoes a change of ownership or control involving an out-of-state entity.

Open Nebraska RHTP funding opportunities

Lincoln, NE – Nebraska has posted Request for Applications (RFA) for additional grant opportunities under the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). • School Kitchen Modernization Grants: The Nebraska Department of Education is accepting applications for a grant opportunity that will provide more than $2.2 million in RHTP funding to help rural and frontier schools improve the quality of school meals.

During the week of June 28 July 4, the following arrests were reported by the Valentine Police Department: • At 7:00 p.m., on June 28, a traffic stop lead to the arrest of a 29 year old Nebraska man for driving under suspension. • On June 30, at 9:10 p.m., a 22 year old Nebraska man was arrested for driving under suspension.

Valentine joined communities across the nation on July 4 in commemorating America's 250th birthday with a day filled with patriotic traditions, historical reflection and community celebration. At 9:00 a.m., the community participated in the nationwide Let Freedom Ring observance, joining thousandsof communities,churches, cathedrals and national parks across the country in ringing bells to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
