Weather was the villain of the week once again, with school closure, cancellation of parent-teacher conferences and other events. The service for Helen Ford was canceled due to family not wishing for anyone to have to risk their safety on the roads, opting for a small family gathering instead.

Pole inspections to be conducted across state

Columbus, Neb. – Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) will be contracting with Osmose Utility Services to conduct inspections on the distribution, subtransmission, and transmission system across the state.

During the week of March 2 - 9, the following arrests were made: • On March 2, at 9:40 p.m., a 37 year old South Dakota man was arrested near the intersection of 4th and Wood streets on the charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Unlawful Flight to Avoid Arrest, and Resisting Arrest. • On March 4, at 10:20 a.m., officers responded to a non-injury accident in the 300 block of East Highway 20.

NC RC&D February 2025 Meeting Summary

The North Central Nebraska RC&D met February 12, 2025 in Bassett. Carla Stagemeyer, executive director, announced the new website, www.northcentralrcd. com, has launched, with additional links and news updates to be added.

Pastor Jake Schadel Valentine Methodist Church When I was appointed to a small community in northwest Kansas our church housed and ran the local food bank. On an ordinary day at the food bank, we served about a dozen families.

Nebraska musician launches music career

Valentine, NE, native and VHS Class of 2013 graduate, Kolton Brown, released his first music EP (Extended Play), Find A Girl, on February 10, 2025. He started his music career at the age of four, singing karaoke whenever and wherever he could. He was involved in music throughout his schooling. His high school music teacher, Mrs. Tammy Russell, was a great inspiration and supporter of his talents and helped shape his love of music.
