Middle Niobrara NRD to host meetings about new building

Do you know what a Natural Resource District (NRD) is and what they do? The Middle Niobrara Natural Resources District will be hosting two special meetings this month to provide an overview into their proposed office remodel, parking lot, and green infrastructure project. Pheasants Forever hosts basic Turkey Hunting Workshops

Pheasants Forever has partnered with Tooth and Whisker Outdoors, and the Nebraska Game and ParksCommissiontoprovideFREE Basic Turkey Hunting Workshops ahead of season openers. These workshops are FREE of charge and open to anyone interested in learning more about hunting North America's largest game bird. Whether you have hunted before, and want to learn some new techniques or have never hunted turkeys but want to try, come on out for some fun hands-on learning. There are two workshops, each workshop will have a different focus. The first is Thursday, March 6, 2025 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., will focus on turkey identification, habitats, habits, and hunting regulations. It is important to know about the species you plan to hunt before you go into the field.

Social Security dissolves duplicative office

The Social Security Administration announced the closing of a component within the agency, the Office of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity. Employees in this office will be put on administrative leave effective today.

NRD recreation exploration encourages Nebraskans to discover nature, win prizes

LINCOLN, Nebraska – Nebraska’s Natural Resources Districts (NRDs) encourage participation in the NRD Recreation Exploration program, which is designed to inspire individuals and families to venture into the great outdoors and explore the state’s natural beauty. The program aims to foster a deeper connection with nature while offering participants the chance to win a grand prize of $1,500 in Scheel’s gift cards.

2025 Tire Amnesty Grant received

The North Central RC&D in partnership with the Middle Niobrara NRD has secured funding for a tire amnesty event to be held on April 30 and May 1 in Valentine. The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy approved a Waste Reduction and Recycling Grant for a 200-ton scrap tire collection.

History made by Badger Dance Team at STATE!

Short Story: For the first time in the school’s history the Valentine Badger dance team took {STATE}: they placed first in Class C2/D Jazz and second in C2 Pom at Nebraska State High School Dance Championships in Grand Island on Friday February 21.

Long time barber, Charles Foster, to retire

By the end of January, Charles Foster had decided it was time to retire from being a barber. He has made Saturdays easy for his walk in customers.
