Lincoln, NE, August 17, 2026 — Veterinary toxicologists in the region are again seeing cases of cattle deaths associated with water hauled in tanks or equipment previously used for fertilizer. Recent cases submitted to the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory have included substantial death losses.

LINCOLN, Neb. – Gov. Jim Pillen recently appointed Michael Bergen to serve as the District 3 director of the Nebraska Corn Board (NCB), which represents Hamilton, Merrick, Polk and York counties. Bergen, from Aurora, is replacing Brandon Hunnicutt, from Giltner, who has served on the board since 2014 and chose not to seek reappointment.

With the passage of Nebraska Legislative Bill 1032, (LB 1032), enacted into law in April and effective on July 18, tribal customary adoptions (TCAs) under the Nebraska Indian Child Welfare Act are to be established according to the laws or customs of the child’s individual tribe.
