Nebraska’s Trout in the Classroom program is accepting applications through August to join the program and earn a scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year. This program is for teachers interested in raising live fish in their classrooms and utilizing the tanks for countless lesson plans and everyday activities.

Irrigated ground growing a winter wheat crop harvested in July can be utilized to produce a high-quality forage for fall and winter grazing or hay. To examine this option, a two-year study was conducted in 2012 and 2013 at the High Plains Ag Lab.

Plan to attend the Lakeview Church 4th of July picnic on Saturday at the Valentine City Park at the pavilion. This is a change of venue from previously announced. The high school group from the church plan on an entry in the parade at 10:00 a.m., so come for the parade, and then have lunch at the park around 12 or 12:30. It’s always great to relax with friends, and no one will leave hungry!
