The recent summer-like temperatures have been a welcome change, but this is Nebraska. It didn’t take long for cooler weather to snap us back to reality, and we are only in March. These temperature swings may have had us wearing shorts one day and sweatpants the next, but they can also impact our landscapes.

I met up with a few pastor friends recently, and the topic of celebrating the Communion - AKA Lord’s Supper - was raised by a friend. Their comment was a parishioner told them that as a Christian, they never understood how we celebrate Christ’s death through Communion.

Occasionally I receive comments about an article or poem I wrote. On one such occasion, a lady told me that she reads my column religiously and even shares them with others. She said, “I showed one of your articles to my granddaughter who wondered why my articles are always about old people.” My reply was, “Because I am one.” When you reach my age bracket we are often called “the elderly,” yet that bracket holds the knowledge about a world that no longer exists. If you listen to our stories you will discover that we are not simply older people reaching later chapters in life, but we have experienced a transformation in human history, a generation that came from a slower lifestyle to the dazzling speed of a digital world. Our journey began at a very different time.

The District One American Legion Family Convention is now history. Spring Core 24 Training for the Nebraska Master Naturalist Program will take place April 10-11 and 17-18 at the Schramm Education Center near Gretna. Nebraska Master Naturalist is a statewide program of certified volunteer naturalists.

At this season of the year, many people give more of their time thinking of, and talking about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. And that’s a good thing! But here is a question for you; Who do you say that He is? Who is He to you personally? Many of us think of the reason why Jesus came into the world in broader terms such as – we, us, our – which is true, and as is written in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world …” But my friend, do you see Him as having come into this world to save you? Indeed, He did! Yes, you are that valuable to God.
