OPT begins second year as Nebraska VA HRTG Coordinator

I know it has been a while since you have heard from us but never fear we will have not gone anywhere. We have been busy on the road serving our passengers, working on year-end reporting (still), and revving up for the next year of transportation services regionwide. We know with Federal and State award reductions (we are not supposed to use the term “budget cuts”), that there will be some changes going into our winter schedules, but let us save that for next time.

In the cold drizzle of the afternoon, two local Good Samaritans stopped what they were doing to repair a downed American flag on Main Street. The moment was captured by Kelsey Dredge, who had just stepped out of the Made New second-hand store when she noticed Doug Pier and Bill Colburn working together to raise the flag back into place.

During the week of November 2-8, the following arrests were made by the Valentine Police Department: • At 12:52 a.m., on November 7, a traffic stop in the parking lot of Mid Plains Community College lead to the arrest of a 33 year old South Dakota woman for Driving on a Suspended License.

Former Bellevue officer arrested in child sexual abuse material investigation

NOVEMBER 7, 2025 (BELLEVUE, NEB.) — Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a former Bellevue Police Department officer as part of a child enticement investigation. The investigation began in July, when the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office requested NSP investigate a report regarding a Bellevue officer, identified as Ryan Agustin.

Nebraska Extension to host irrigation meeting

NORTH PLATTE, NE –– Nebraska Extension will host an irrigation meeting in collaboration with Nebraska Master Irrigator on December 5 at the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center in North Platte.

Daniel Martinez completes residency at Valentine

Daniel Martinez, guitar virtuoso, had a busy week visiting the schools and other stops around town. Daniel is originally from Iquitos, Peru. He moved to the United States in 2002 and started to take his music seriously. Daniel has performed across the U.S., Canada, and in South America. He is a guitar professor at Nebraska Wesleyan University and Union College, and plays all musical styles, but his specialties are Latin rhythms such as Flamenco, Rumba, Bossa Nova, Jazz, Bolero, Bachata, and more.

Every year since 1992, wreaths have been placed on veteran graves around the world on the second or third Saturday in December to honor those veterans by the Wreaths Across America organization. Sponsorships are provided by family, friends, businesses, and community members to honor these veterans.
