Linda Ford, 81

Celebration of life for Linda Ford, age 81 of Cody, will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. MST at the Merriman Community Building in Merriman. Linda passed away March 20 at her home in Cody. The inurnment will be held at a later date.

Robert E. “Bob” Bobek, 90

Family memorial service for Robert E. “Bob” Bobek, 90 of Valentine formerly of Pierce, will take place at a later date in Valentine. Bob died on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Bob was born February 27, 1934 in Pierce, to William and Mildred Bobek. He had one older brother, Billy Bobek.

William V. Stroup, 77

William Vincent Stroup (known as Bill), eldest child of Claude Vincent and Margaret Mary (Donovan) Stroup, was born October 29, 1946 in Norton, KS. When Bill was a young boy, the family moved to Spalding, where he grew up with many people who were to become life-long friends. Bill graduated from Spalding Academy in 1965 and then joined the Army in 1966.

Sharron E. Jochem, 84

Sharron Evonne Jochem, 84, of Ainsworth, passed away May 7, 2024, at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth. Sharron was born May 5, 1940, in Kearney. When she was only one hour old, she was adopted by Charles A. and Mabel A. (Curlile) Eckhout. Welcoming her to the family were an older stepsister and stepbrother, Norma and Marvin, both of whom were already married. Three years after Sharron’s birth, Charles and Mabel adopted another girl, Sherrill, age three.

Arliss E. Moreland, 96

Arliss Moreland passed away November 17, 2023 at Hays Nursing and Rehab Center in San Marcos, TX. Graveside rites will be held on May 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. MST at Tuthill Cemetery, Tuthill, SD, followed by a fellowship meal and sharing at the Tuthill Fire Hall.

Kenn R. Remmers, 79

Kenn Ray Remmers was born August 21, 1944, to Victor C. and Dorothy E. (Johnson) Remmers in Burlington, IA. He passed away May 13, 2024, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell at the age of 79.

Kathryn J. Ormesher, 74

Kathryn Jean Ormesher (Kathie) died in her home in Mesquite, NV on November 7, 2016. She was born on January 10, 1942 to Dr. John and Helen Farner of Valentine. She grew up in Valentine, attended University of Nebraska and transferred to Southern Methodist University before graduating from there in 1964, In 1963 she married James Russell Ormesher (“Rusty”) who was also born and raised in Valentine. She taught high school German for a couple years before quitting to start a family. She raised two boys, Brad and Ryan Ormesher in their home in North Dallas. During that time she was active in P.E.O., the church, and volunteered for many of the boy’s activities. She was often busy doing something for others.

James R. Ormesher, 82

James Russell Ormesher (“Rusty”) of Rayne, LA, passed away on the morning of April 15, 2024 at the age of 82. Rusty was born on August 28, 1941, to James Edward and Helen Lydiatt Ormesher in Valentine.

John I. Pitkin, 72

John Ira Pitkin, 72, of Cody, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway. John was born December 29, 1951 in Arnold, to Ira and Georgia (Hansen) Pitkin. He attended and graduated from Callaway High School in 1970. He then went on to further his education at Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte, where he received his Associate’s Degree in Building Construction.

Erma J. Hart, 97

Erma Jane, age 97, of Plattsmouth, died Saturday January 7, 2024 in the Bellevue Medical Center. Jane, born as E. J. Galligher on November 5, 1926 in Kilgore, to James J. and Virginia Bell (Bowden) Galligher. She was born and raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska, where she resided until after her marriage to Donald L. Hart at the end of WWII. After leaving Kilgore, the family relocated to various communities in Nebraska and Iowa following Don’s career as a meat cutter. Together they raised five children until their separation in 1976. After which, Jane relocated to Denver, CO to live closer to some of her children.
