Thomas “Tom” Dean Witt passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2026, in Lincoln, NE after suffering a heart attack while at home. Born March 21, 1947, in Alliance, NE to Woodrow “Woody” and Opal (Hardy) Witt, Tom grew up in Thedford with his younger brother Jim, graduating from Thomas County High School in 1965. During his cherished high school years, Tom played football and spent summers working on ranches, gaining many valuable life skills.

Richard Larry Holmes was born in Rapid City, SD December 2, 1945 to Richard Lewis and Daisy Lou (Wheeler) Holmes. He attended country grade school in Westover, SD and graduated from Murdo High School in 1963. September 1963, he enlisted in the United States Navy.

Cheryl Lynn Bennett, age 68, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at her home in Valentine, NE, in the loving presence of her husband, Rick Bennett. Cheryl was born on July 22, 1957, in Valentine, NE, to Norma Porath.

Ramona Catherine Mecham, 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at her home with her family by her side. Ramona was born on August 17, 1935, to Michael J.

Janice Scripter, age 89, of Gering, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 with family by her side. She is now with her LORD and Savior in a much better place in Glory. A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3 at the Gering Zion Church, located at 1100 0 Street in Gering.

Robert Melvin Ellis May 7, 1937 - December 30, 2025 Robert Melvin Ellis was born in Roberts, ID, to Melvin Purser Ellis and Irene Louise Davies. He was the oldest of three children and grew up on the family farm in Hamer, ID, where hard work and family influence shaped the man he would become.

Gregory “Greg” Weldon Hobbs, 72 of Maxwell, NE formerly of Kilgore, NE passed away in his sleep on December 15, 2025, in Maxwell, NE. Greg was born November 22, 1953, at Princeton, MO to Russell and Nelda (Stanturf) Hobbs.
