All Things Nebraska

As a young reporter, I got the opportunity to cover, and learn a few things, from maybe the greatest state senator ever, Jerome Warner. He was the kind of state senator who just commanded respect, and unlike some politicians, had a wellformed group of beliefs that guided his decision making.

DISTRICT 43 NEWS

eWs by Senator Tanya Storer This week in the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee, Senator Brandt introduced LB561, a bill that would add raw milk as a qualifying commodity under existing law, allowing agricultural commodity transportation exemptions from overweight penalties. The committee also heard testimony from candidates for the Underground Excavation Safety Committee.

Rolling back government overreach

The costly consequences of unnecessary, burdensome regulations represent one of the greatest threats to future American prosperity. In fact, a 2024 report produced by the Biden-Harris administration showed, in the year prior, the annual government-wide paperwork burden on Americans increased by 1.6 billion hours to more than 12.1 billion.

I do not support LB646

This week in the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee, LB 449, introduced by Sen. Fredrickson, generated the most discussion. This bill attempts to change the NDOT roads funding to a formula base which would shift more money to Omaha and away from rural Nebraska. This is not supported by NDOT and does not appear to have support from the committee. I have and will continue to fight against this from advancing as it would be detrimental to District 43.

New trade war would hurt Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers

It’s hard to overstate the impact agriculture has on the State of Nebraska. The production of crops contributes $25 billion a year to the state’s economy, according to the University of Nebraska, and the impact extends to the cities, where suppliers, bankers and consultants make a living providing goods and services to farmers and ranchers.

Electric vehicles must pay their fair share

As part of its relentless climate agenda, the Biden administration imposed rules and regulations that would force Americans to adopt electric vehicles (EVs) at a breakneck pace. Today, we’re left with more electric cars on the roads, and more problems we must address.

Restoring maximum pressure against Iran

The Islamic Republic of Iran is the leading state sponsor of terrorism. They’ve spent decades funding terror attacks all over the world. Iranian proxies have launched thousands of missiles at Israel. In fact, Iran itself launched the largest ballistic missile attack in history against Israel last year.

Protecting our sovereignty...

A volleyball crazy state loses a legend

Nebraska, I’ll bet, is the only state in the union where the retirement of the volleyball coach is front-page news. And where the installation of a new coach is covered live on television with the governor in attendance.
