Providing for our common defense

One of the federal government’s most important priorities is to provide for the common defense.

Deterrence plays a vital role in maintaining peace

W World events have emphasized the importance of American readiness to keep our country safe and stand with our allies across the globe. The fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria is another reminder many regions of the world do not enjoy the freedom and stability we do in the United States.

Plan to maintain valuable access for inspector generals

A wise, old soul once told me that “the story of government isn’t that what is said isn’t so, it’s that what is so isn’t said.” That, over and over, has proven true in years of digging into stories and actions of state government. State agencies and constitutional officers have a bevy of public information officers whose job is to promote what that agency or office does, and overall, make that agency look good.

Time to change inefficient state agencies

During the short session of the 105th Legislature back in the Spring of 2018, I had a resolution drafted that I ended up never introducing. This is quite common. During the first ten days of the session, a lot of political reality can happen between submitting a drafting request and dropping a three-parted bill into the Clerk of the Legislature’s wicker basket. This is what it said: “At the general election in November 2020, the following proposed amendment to the Constitution of Nebraska shall be submitted to the electors of the State of Nebraska for approval or rejection: To amend Article VII, section 6: VII-6 “All lands owned by the state for educational purposes shall be sold on or before December 31, 2024, except when the sale of such lands would violate an existing lease contract, in which case the lands shall be sold immediately upon the expiration of such lease. Prior to January 1, 2025, at public auction under such conditions as the Legislature shall provide.”

Pass the planet on better!

The new President will take office in just a few weeks. He has stated that he will do away with the renewable energy subsidy called the production income tax credit.

Delivering results for Nebraskans

I’m proud of the work my team and I have done fighting for Nebraska this year. Whether it’s meeting with Nebraskans or helping you navigate the federal government, my goal remains the same.
