Fischer leads Nebraska delegation in support of Transcontinental Railroad

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) led the entire Nebraska congressional delegation in a letter to the Surface Transportation Board, urging approval of the proposed merger between Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern in order to create the nation’s first transcontinental railroad.

Remembering at Christmas

W Christmas is a time of joy. Joy for the birth of our Savior after the anticipation of the advent season.

Winter at Fort Niobrara

Fighting regulations

Federal regulations are a costly, overreaching web which stifles innovation, germinates uncertainty, and often burdens the very people they purport to protect. Regulatory overreach by the Obama and Biden administrations extended well beyond congressional intent – creating the potential to upend industry. I have continually worked to rein in this unchecked rulemaking and restore accountability to federal agencies, and I appreciate the progress we have made since January.

Christmas in the Good Life

WashingtOn d.C . Christmas is nearly upon us, but in The Good Life, the spirit of the season lasts all month long.

Faith, family and community, reminding us that Nebraska’s strength is found in its people

The Nebraska Capitol grows quiet as Christmas nears. The bustling of the hallways winds down, committee rooms remain dark and lawmakers return home. This valuable pause allows us all to reflect, prepare, and renew our purpose and offers a chance to step away from public life and refocus on core values that define our “why.” Things like faith, family and community, reminding us that Nebraska's strength is found in its people, not buildings or schedules.

Cornhusker Clink doesn’t help states image

No matter your opinion of immigrants, I think we can agree on one thing – having a federal detention center in Nebraska is not a good look for our state. The opening of the Cornhusker Clink illustrates that Nebraska is in full-throated agreement with the roundup and deportation of those who came to our country in search of a better life but in violation of immigration rules.

A year of delivering wins for Nebraska

Americans elected President Trump and Senate Republicans to get our country back on track. That means safer streets, more money in your pocket, and excellent customer service. I’m proud of the work we did this year. We’re delivering for Nebraskans. I continue to do what I did as Governor. I travel the state, talk to people, and listen to their concerns.

The greatest gift found in Cherry County Jail

Letter to the Editor ~ December 18, 2025 I’m not sure if this would be worth making news, but worth a shot. I would shout to the world if possible! On December 13, 2025, I was blessed with the best Christmas gift one can only imagine! I, and three others, had the privilege of not only turning our lives over to follow Jesus, but also getting baptized in Cherry County Jail.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor: I have attempted to live-animal trap cats who live on my block to have them neutered or spayed with basic shots. Many of them will not take a chance on entering a trap. One such female cat did enter, and I had her spayed with basic shots Her name was “Teenager,” and she died this week from poisoning. Poisoning is a cruel and mean act.
