Badgers end season against Ogallala

The Badgers ended their season Tuesday, February 21, 2023, against the Ogallala Indians. The team played hard all season long and came away with a 5-16 record. They won over Mitchell, and lost to Ogallala in subdistricts. Stats weren’t available due to a 400 error on the MaxPreps website.

Game and Parks will certify youth fishing instructors across state

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will certify youth fishing instructors at workshops in five locations across the state in the coming months. Instructors are part of the Youth Fishing Program, a statewide team of volunteers and Game and Parks staff who host educational fishing events.

Badger Bots Robotics team earns second place at Nebraska State 4-H

The Cherry County 4-H Badger Bots Robotics team traveled to Columbus, to compete in the Nebraska State 4-H First Lego League Robotics Competition. It was the first year they received a trophy at the state competition in their three years competing there. They walked away with second place in the Innovation Project with their presentation about a geothermal cattle tank.

CK eSports team captures State Championship at York College

The Cody-Kilgore eSports team on Friday, February 3, 2023, captured the school’s first eSports state championship at York College in York. To be specific, the CK Gamers won the Division 4 Winter Season State Championship in Mario Kart.

Lady Badgers end season with 9-10 record

The Lady Badgers played Ord, February 14, 2023, and lost with a score of 61-67. Kinsey Buechle and Jayda From were lead scorers with 18, followed by Tacey From with 14, Kimber McGinley with 5, Kaetryn Bancroft with 4, and Malika Monroe with 2.

Valentine FFA competed January 11, 2023, in Wallace with the following LDE results: Jr Public Speaking, JoJo Jordan, purple and alternate to state; Jenalee Garwood, Blue. Sr.

Badgers end regular season play with 4-15 record

Friday, February 17, the Badgers competed against Gordon-Rushville and lost with a score of 30-46. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 6, 3, 5, 16 = 30 Gordon-Rushville - 9, 13, 8, 16 = 46 Leading scorer was Andon Olson with 12, followed by Seth Vavra with 6, Lex Larsen with 5, Isaac Cronin with 3, Nathan Perrett and Jack Lancaster each with 2.

Cody-Kilgore Cowgirls end season with 5-15 record

The Cowgirl’s season came to an end last week after they lost to Hay Springs in the first round of sub districts. Scoring by quarters: Cody-Kilgore - 4, 5, 11, 8 = 28 Hay Springs - 20, 14, 14, 9 = 57 Aubree Johnson was lead scorer with 10, followed by Aiden Hand with 6, Mikah Vander Wey with 3, Kate Cox, Sadee Adamson, Kassidy Roseberry, and Rachel Farley each with 2, and Kayleigh Ravenscroft with 1.

Cox to participate in 4-H Fashion Week at Omaha

Lincoln, Neb., Feb. 15, 2023 —Nebraska 4-H members from across the state will showcase their designs during the 15th annual Omaha Fashion Week runway showcase.

Naslund competes at State 4-H Archery Championship

The Nebraska State 4-H Indoor Archery Championship was held January 28, 2023 in Columbus. Dylan Naslund of Cody, placed fourth in the Young Adult Bowhunter Free Style division for targets. He also competed in the Platte Valley Archers 3-D meet that weekend, held in conjunction with the State 4-H meet. Dylan is the son of Adam and Janell Naslund.
