The Badgers traveled to Cody, Tuesday, January 11, where they took on the Cowboys. The Badgers won with a score of 54-41.

The Lady Badgers traveled to Cody, Tuesday, January 11, where they played the Cowgirls and won with a score of 55-19. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 24, 9, 12, 10 = 55 Cody-Kilgore - 2, 5, 3, 9 = 19 Lead scorer for the Lady Badgers was Kinsey Buechle with 23; Tacey From, 14; Jada From, 7; Kailee Kellum, 6; Fayth From, 3; and Malika Monroe, 2.

The Badgers traveled to Minden where they lost to the Whippets, Saturday, January 8, 2022. The score was 22-64.

Friday, January 7, 2022, the Lady Badgers hosted the Lady Mustangs and won with a score of 54-43. Scoring by quarters: Valentine - 6, 17, 12, 19 = 54 Gordon-Rushville - 13, 9, 13, 8 = 43 Lead scorer and Max Preps Player of the Game was Kailee Kellum with 21 points.

Coach Shane Allison said, “The Badger wrestling teams both competed in Columbus this past weekend. The weekend was highlighted by Will Sprenger and Ashton Lurz both winning championships. Both wrestlers beat guys who were ranked #2 in their class. Ashton beat three ranked opponents on his way to a title. Although we are not where we want to be yet, I can see this team being right in the mix by the end of the year. The girls competed as well. Emma Richards took home third place honors beating several ranked opponents along the way.”

LAS VEGAS – Garrett Shadbolt was the odd man out during the bareback riding at the National Finals Rodeo. He placed five times, all in Rounds 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10.

The 2021 Junior World Finals Rodeo was held in Las Vegas where there were 13 Champions crowned in six events. The events were: Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and Tie-Down Roping.

Valentine Wrestling Club had three members travel to Pueblo, CO, to compete in The Who’s Bad Colorado National Wrestling Tournament. Parker Chavez brought home first place; Deklin Titus, second place; and Layf Skadberg, fourth place.

The Lady Badgers took second place at the Holiday Tournament held in Chadron December 28- 29, 2021. In the girls wrestling action, Valentine girls placed fifth with 34 points. The tournament was won by the Amherst girls with 64 points and second place was a tie between Chadron and Ord with 50 points each.
