Beel earns third place at State FFA

Olivia Beel, daughter of Adam and Jenny Beel, attended the 96th Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln, April 2 - 5, 2024. She attended the convention with her FFA chapter, Nebraska Agriculture Academy. Thursday evening, during Session 5, Olivia was award third place for her Poultry Production Proficiency. Olivia’s poultry production includes 93 chickens and 27 ducks. Olivia sells chicken and duck eggs commercially. In April, Olivia will add more pullet chicks to her poultry production project.

Nebraska Ag Academy’s success at State FFA... Nebraska’s first Homeschool Chapter

The Nebraska Agriculture Academy FFA Chapter is the first Homeschool Chapter in Nebraska. The goal of the Nebraska Agriculture Academy FFA program is to make quality Agriculture Education and FFA accessible to students grades 7-12 covering the entire state of Nebraska. The Nebraska Agriculture Academy was established in 2022 by Breann Zimmer, Ann Dvorak, and Katie Shadbolt. This second year has been quite a busy and exciting adventure for members of the chapter. Members participated in Leadership Development Events (LDE), Career Development Events (CDE), and SAE proficiencies.

Bancroft earns associate degree from MPCC

High school students will earn associate degrees from Mid-Plains Community College. The accomplishment comes after successfully completing enough qualifying classes through MPCC’s dual credit courses. Early entry courses allow high school students to take college-level classes and earn credits toward both a high school diploma and a college degree simultaneously.

Lakeview/Crookston

Vern and Marlys Walkling met Prairey and Jamie Brennan in Murdo on Friday to bring Norah and Nolan to Lakeview for the weekend. Prairey and Jamie went on to Sioux Falls where they met with cousin Jesse Logterman. On Saturday Jamie was awarded the Richard Wahlstrom Excellence in Scholarship Award in Brookings.

Revving Up Safety: NDOT Joins in Speeding Awareness Week to Promote Safer Roads

Lincoln-The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) in taking a stand against speeding. Agencies and organizations across the state are asking motorists to watch their speed by joining their voices together in a public education campaign to emphasize how following posted speed limits is critical to driver, passenger, pedestrian and cyclist safety. Beginning April 22, 2024, you’ll be seeing messages related to “Speeding Awareness Week” on social media and dynamic message signs throughout the state.
