Cherry County Commissioners approve TK Angus CUP

The TK Angus hearing lasted nearly two hours, Tuesday, July 29, 2025 during the Cherry County Commissioner’s meeting. Martin DeNayer, Nina Nelson, and Mike McConaughey were in attendance, along with Cherry County Attorney Eric Scott. Attorney Steve Mossman was available via zoom, and represented TK Angus.

Niobrara Council July meeting

The Niobrara Council met July 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., in the Cherry County South Building Meeting Room, in Valentine. Present: Jason Appelt, Lana Arrowsmith, Karl Connell, Dallas Dodson, Les Hall, Wade Hollenbeck, Mary Mercure, Rich Mercure, Mike Murphy, Nina Nelson, Don Painter, Matt Sprenger,Tony Tiefenthaler.

Rural Prosperity Conference is coming this August

The 4th annual Nebraska Small Business Conference is coming to Grand Island, Lincoln, and Omaha in August. Focused on entrepreneurship education, the conference will be held in English and Spanish, and caters to new entrepreneurs through seasoned business owners.

4-H State Speech results

The Nebraska 4-H Premier Communication Event features a variety of state-level communication contests. The two-day event was held at the on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus in Lincoln June 19-20, 2025.

Flying Unicorn Pie

Ingredients: Egg wash (or almond milk if making a vegan pie) Brown gel food color Vanilla extract Assortment of sanding sugar, sprinkles, and small Sixlets or dragées Gold and pearl luster dust Vodka or any clear alcohol or extract to mix with the luster dust Supplies: The pie pan of your choice Baking sheet Parchment paper Food-safe precision knife Pastry brush Food-safe artist brushes Ramekins or small containers to mix color and hold egg wash Fondant sculpting tool (or toothpick) 1. Roll out the dough of your choice onto parchment and cut out all the Flying Unicorn template pieces with a sharp knife. Cut out as many “rays” as you like.
