Prairie Light Youth Camp was held at Lakeview last week, and was a success with about 142 kids attending. Teams came from First Baptist in Sioux Falls, Faith CRC in Sioux Center, the Steen, MN church and Heritage Lutheran in Brandon to help with the camp, along with volunteers from the area.

Lincoln-The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care (MLTC) are pleased to announce the expansion of the Katie Beckett Program to provide greater access to essential Medicaid services for children who live with their families and meet the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) level of care (LOC) or Nursing Facility Level of Care (NF LOC) for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (IID).

Middle Niobrara NRD assesses successful stream restoration projects in Long Pine Creek Watershed

Valentine – The Middle Niobrara Natural Resources District (NRD) recently conducted a thorough assessment of stream restoration projects within the Long Pine Creek Watershed (LPCW) following significant rainfall. Between June 17-21, 2024, Brown County landowners reported nine to 11 inches of rain in the area. The restoration projects demonstrated remarkable resilience, exhibiting only minor erosion along the streambanks.

Special School Bond results

July 9, 2024, the voters said yes to the $3 million dollar Cody-Kilgore Unified School Bond election with 159 voting for said bonds and tax, with 66 voting against said bonds and tax. The bonds will be used to pay costs of constructing additions and improvements to the existing high school building..

Washington – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement following the assassination attempt on President Donald J. Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania: “Bruce and I are thankful that President Trump has survived this assassination attempt, and we’re praying for the families with loved ones lost and in critical condition. The decisive actions of law enforcement on the scene no doubt prevented further loss of life, and we’re grateful for their bravery.”
