Centennial Hall updates windows, prepares for summer season

The famed high school turned into a museum now called Centennial Hall, has undergone a little bit of a face-lift. In an effort to keep the building in great condition, as well as protect the different assemblages, with help from the Pestel Foundation, and fund-raisers, new windows were purchased and have been installed.

Fort Niobrara Refuge to begin large fencing project

You may have noticed the bison herd grazing in new areas this spring, north of the Fort Niobrara Visitor Center. In May 2023, the Refuge transferred their four horses to the National Forest Service in Arizona. “We no longer use the horses to round up bison and they were getting up there in age. We were fortunate to find a new home for them. Hopefully they appreciate the warmer Arizona weather,” said Refuge Manager Matt Sprenger.

Roadway striping to be underway in District 8

May 22, 2024, Valentine — Weather permitting, roadway paint striping is set to have begun May 28 in the Merriman and Valentine areas, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Sir Lines-a-Lot of Edina, MN is the contractor for this project.

Attorney General Hilgers Files Landmark Lawsuit against TikTok in Nebraska State Court

Lincoln-Attorney General Mike Hilgers filed a landmark lawsuit against TikTok in Nebraska State Court, alleging violations of Nebraska’s consumer protection laws. The lawsuit claims TikTok engaged in deceptive and unfair trade practices by intentionally designing and operating a platform that is addictive and harmful to teens and children while holding itself out as “family-friendly” and “safe” for young users.
