2026 Baseball Marathon

TheAmericanLegionPost90 2026 baseball teams will attempt a tall task of playing over 50 innings of baseball on Sunday afternoon May 17 starting at 3:00 p.m., at Legion Field located in Veterans Memorial Ballpark in Valentine.

Three selected for the American Legion Junior Law Cadet Program

Each year, two high school girls and boys from each of the Nebraska American Legion’s 14 districts are chosen to participate in the Junior Law Cadet Program. The boys meet June 22-23 and the girls June 24-25 at the Nebraska State Patrol Training academy in grand Island.

Sons of the American Legion Benefit

On April 17 the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 90, sponsored their annual hamburger and hot dog feed at the Vets Club in Valentine. A nice crowd of over 130, feasted on the burgers and dogs, with Kara Buechle supplying the baked beans on a cool evening.

Ricketts designates May as Beef Month

WASHINGTON,D.C.–U.S.Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) introduced a resolution to designate May 2026 as Beef Month in America. Ricketts is a longtime champion — and enjoyer — of Nebraska beef. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), James Lankford (R-OK), and Roger Marshall (R-KS) cosponsored this resolution.

High school seniors earn MPCC Honor Cords

A total of 463 area high school seniors will receive honor cords from Mid-Plains Community College to wear at their high school graduation ceremonies this spring. MPCC awards honor cords to students who have taken the initiative to earn college credit while still in high school.
