Vets Club Soup Contest first week winners

The first week of the Vets Club Soup Contest was held Friday, January 7. First place was Leo Driving Hawk with Three Bean and Ham, second place was Mike Petersen with Smokey Bean and Potato, third place was Travis Connot with Game Day Chili, Robyn Carlson Broken Leg made Caldo Y Albindigo (Meatballs and Sauce) and Callie Kreutner made Lucky Leprechaun Chili..

January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month

Eyesight is often taken for granted, and living without it can be a challenge for many. Over three million Americans and over 60 million people worldwide have glaucoma, which is often referred to as "the sneak thief of sight" because there are often no symptoms of its presence. However, once vision is lost, it's permanent; as much as 40% of vision can be lost without a person noticing, which experts estimate is the case in half of those who suffer from glaucoma. Combined with an aging population, there is an epidemic of blindness looming if awareness is not raised about the importance of regular eye examinations to preserve vision.

Jon and Marissa Logterman and family of Iowa spent several days visiting Dwight and Marvanne Logterman, and Jesse and Lindsay Logterman and Owen of Sioux Falls also came for several days. They were joined by George and Jodi Arnold and Rob and Andee Logterman and family on Friday, Dec 30 and all celebrated a belated Christmas together.

Get to know VPD Officer McSweeney

Many of you may already know Ryan McSweeney as the football coach, or the Youth Activities Director, but this former Marine is more than fun and games. He’s now an officer with the Valentine Police Department and has been in this role for the past nine months.

First baby of 2022 born at Cherry County Hospital

Welcome Keiko Elizabeth Black Bear! She is the 2022 New Year’s baby, born to Melissa White Horse of Mission, SD, and Benjamin Black Bear IV of Rosebud, SD. Keiko was named after her aunt, and was born January 4, 2022, at Cherry County Hospital.
