Plan for a sober ride this Halloween

Kansas City, MO — This Halloween, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Region 7 Office, is partnering with the State Highway Safety Offices in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska to remind everyone that Buzzed driving is drunk driving.

NSAA Volleyball and Football Championships on Nebraska Public Media

Lincoln-November brings NSAA State High School Volleyball and Football championships to Nebraska Public Media. Volleyball championships are Saturday, November 4 with Class D-2 at 9:00 a.m., followed by Class D-1 at 11:00 a.m., Class C-2 at 1:00 p.m., Class C-1 at 3:00 p.m., Class B at 5:00 p.m.

Grace Lutheran School has new staff and incredible increase in students

School is well underway, however, for Grace Lutheran School, the hallways and classrooms are a little more packed! Actually, their student population has doubled. They began their 2022 school year with 21 students in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. For 2023, the students number 42!

Public hearing for TK Angus CUP#001-23 held

The Cherry County Commissioners hosted a Public Hearing, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Cherry County Courthouse. This was a continuation of their regular board meeting. The purpose was to hear testimony on the TK Angus Co. Conditional Use Permit #001-23 for a confined animal feeding operation of a swine finisher housing 4,999 head over 55 pounds.

Hobbs selected as Cherry County Clerk Magistrate

Michaela Hobbs, who previously served as Assistant Clerk in Cherry and Brown Counties, has been selected to serve as Cherry County Court Clerk Magistrate in Valentine. Hobbs began work as clerk magistrate on October 5, 2023.

Niobrara River received official Quiet Trail award

LINCOLN, October 20, 2023 – The Niobrara National Scenic River will receive an official award Friday, October 20 from Quiet Parks International in recognition of the river corridor’s pristine natural soundscape largely free from manmade noise. Quiet Parks International, a non-profit organization based in California, studies and recognizes quiet places worldwide, encouraging everyone to safeguard these areas for future enjoyment.

It has been over a week since the world woke to the news of the atrocities taking place in Israel and Gaza. The first reports provided by our government and the legacy media minimized the reports of death and injuries. My wife and I traveled to Israel and Palestine in August of 2022. We made acquaintances with Jews, Christians, and Muslims in our travels throughout the region. The information provided by those who live there tell of the slaughter of women and children on a scale not experienced by Jews since the Holocaust.

Republicans demand Biden freeze transfer of $6 billion to Iran

Omaha – U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, joined a group of 20 Senate Republicans to demand President Biden and the State Department immediately rescind the waivers that allowed $6 billion of Iranian funds to be converted and moved to more accessible bank accounts, as well as work with Qatar to immediately freeze the accounts containing these funds.
