Lincoln, September 27, 2023 – Farmers and ranchers interested in preventing erosion, improving soil health, conserving water and wildlife, or making other natural resource conservation improvements to their property are encouraged to apply now for funding available from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Those interested in receiving funding this year should sign up before November 17, 2023.

October 3, 2023 Lincoln — October marks the return of the Pink Patch Project for many law enforcement agencies across the state and many Nebraska State Troopers will be wearing pink NSP patches to honor breast cancer fighters. The effort coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the approval of an updated COVID-19 vaccine on September 13, 2023. The FDA and CDC recommend this vaccine for anyone six months and older, no matter how many COVID-19 vaccines you have received. Just like a flu shot that changes each year, the new COVID booster is updated to match the strain that is making people sick this fall. You can get the updated vaccine at least two months after your last COVID-19 shot.

From the back of our hands to the back of our legs, pale blue blood vessels are visible just under the skin. Oftentimes these veins are flat and not painful. However when these vessels become abnormally swollen or dilated, they are called varicose veins. This swelling is caused by the valves inside the veins becoming weak and no longer sealing tightly. Varicose veins can become painful, quite large and stick out from the surface of the skin.
