OMAHA, July 20, 2023 — After declining below growth neutral in March, the overall Rural Mainstreet Index for July expanded above the threshold for a fourth straight month, according to the July monthly survey of bank CEOs in rural areas of a 10-state region dependent on agriculture and/or energy.

JULY 18, 2023, LINCOLN — The Nebraska State Patrol has been honored with the 2022 Outstanding Interdiction Effort award for an operation that resulted in dozens of criminal cases and the removal of hundreds of pounds of controlled substances from the street.

The community came out to support Valentine Police Officer Jasmine Hoefs who received a $10,000 grant from Zechariah Cartledge of Running 4 Heroes, and a Law Enforcement Purple Heart from the Valentine Police Department. Photos by Laura Vroman

It was a cold and snowy - extra snowy at that - December 16, 2022 when Officer Jasmine Hoefs responded to a medical emergency call, which did not end as expected. With over 19 surgeries to date, Jasmine is still on her road to recovery.
